CD Labels
-
I wonder whether someone could please do a printable label for optical media which, is based around the new artwork for XCP-ng's logo?
Stating the version of XCP-ng and obviously that it's XCP-ng, it could even be with a script so that each new release it can generate a new label with version number changed. There would be a template image, which the generator would use as a base then gd or imagemagicka would then output a new label image file with the appropriate details on.
Debian Linux once had a 3rd party service which allowed for the generation of CD labels, of a wide number of versions of the distro.
I always keep a physical closed CD-R instance of major software, OS and hypervisor software stack installation media. I don't really use USB flash drive based media, as these can be altered once created.
Optical media once fully closed, both session and disc are in essence immutable. So if the disc, its source image and constituent parts are uncompromised and valid, then its likely to be less of a chance to be carrying any nasties. Though still watch out for any swapped, installation media which looks like the approved but isn't.
