May 2026 Updates #2 for XCP-ng 8.3 LTS

Update May 7, 2026

New maintenance updates are available for XCP-ng 8.3 LTS.

Today's update addresses an issue with the rolling pool update process on pools using XOSTOR.

The previous set of updates (May 2026 Security and Maintenance Updates for XCP-ng 8.3 LTS) changed a component's internal API in a way that would prevent the XOSTOR storage driver from performing certain actions while the pool is in a transitional heterogeneous update state, due to a lack of backward compatibility. The updated sm and sm-fairlock packages address this issue, ensuring that it does not impact users who have not yet applied the previous set of updates when they next update their pools.

Thus, if you have already applied the updates published on May 5 and described in May 2026 Security and Maintenance Updates for XCP-ng 8.3 LTS, you can safely skip this update.

If you prefer to apply the update anyway, note that it does not require either a host reboot or a toolstack restart. This only applies if you have already applied the previous set of updates and the updater only proposes updates for sm and sm-fairlock, without any additional packages.

Host reboots are only necessary if the May 05th update has not been applied previously.
