August 2026 Updates #2 for XCP-ng 8.3 LTS

Summary

These new updates are all about bug fixes related to storage management.

If you haven't applied the updates mentioned in August 2026 Updates #1 for XCP-ng 8.3 LTS, please read it first, especially the "Update precautions" section, as the updates are cumulative.

Storage fixes

Fix a leaf-coalesce (see previous blog post) failure that can occur with QCOW2-backed disks in some cases when Changed Block Tracking (CBT) is enabled. Before the fix, this issue could result in longer disk chains and additional disk space usage.
Fix a case of LVM metadata corruption on a secondary host using block-based shared storage repositories (iSCSI, FC, etc).

Disk migration fixes

Improve migration speeds for sparse QCOW2-backed VDIs (virtual disks), as empty sectors are no longer transferred.
Preserve VDI tags during migration. This is a foundational fix for Kubernetes integration.

We recommend applying these stability fixes as soon as your schedule permits.
