Import complete successfully but VM bluescreen
-
This is a particular problem that I had never seen before in an import.
I tried in 3 different ways to import a working VM from an ESXi server. V2V with VM off, VMDK import and Standalone Converter and then V2V (see my previous post).
Each time the import completed 100% without any error but the VM would bluescreen after 20 seconds of booting. I suspect it has something to do with the OS of the VM or the way it is configured. The OS is Windows 2012 'R1' server Datacenter Edition, no Hyper-V role is installed. UEFI boot was correctly selected in the settings as it is in the original VM. XCP-ng server is also UEFI boot itself. Nothing particular about the VM beside that.
As it was and always will be until the end of time, Automatic Repair couldn't repair my PC...
I tried to search for anything in relation with the above with no success so far. I did set the UEFI resolution before the first boot as stated in the docs. Does anyone has any idea what could be causing that bluescreen ?
Thanks in advance.

@jflaplante did u uninstall vmware tools prior to migration?
-
@rtjdamen Yes I did but now that you mention it, I will have a look for possible loose ends. Over the 30ish VM I imported, I frequently forgot to remove the tools prior to importing and it did not cause any problem but I does make sense that it could.
Thanks.

@jflaplante we had plenty of situations where it caused a bluescreen. I remember we had a 2012 server where we uninstalled the network card as well. It caused issues. U can install xentools prior to migration, it sometimes helps as well.
