GPU passthrough with Video Out
-
In the past I was able to successfully pass through a GTX 970 on a Dell R720.
I had limited time for testing but in the end it was successful I was able to get the GPU to pass through to the VM. Everything worked as expected for RDP however.
I was never able to manage to get a video output from any of the GPU video ports HDMI display port etc..
Is anyone aware of a way to get this to work I do want to do GPU pass through but I want the VM to act as a physical device.
Is this a limitation of the hypervisor?
GPU pass through works fine but no video output from graphics card?I could not find any instance in the forums of anyone trying to do this but I know it can be done with KVM and Windows GPU-P, Unraid etc.
Has anyone done this successfully or know if it's possible?

@mspencerl87 You need a dummy plug or some sort of virtual monitor like usbmmidd

@Huursa
A dummy plug is what you would use in the event of using no monitor.
I can get perfect GPU passthrough in a VM. I can't get video output to an actual monitor. Is what I'm saying. -
Did you try this tool?

@splastunov
Yes, that works, RDP works etc.
I'm trying to get Video out on the physical display/hdmi ports. -
I do not have now host with GPU to test, but maybe you can try on/off this option in VM BIOS.
Console options -> Console Output Device Select ->
And another option is to add
video=efifb:off
to the grub config -
@splastunov
Never ran across this before, that's for that screenshot, and command.
When I'm able to I'll for sure give this another shot and check these.
