stormi disabling that option won't let my VM boot. Just more BOD. I will continue trying things of course. My main concern is access to proper agents as the one referenced in XCP-ng docs seemed to have been developed and also abandoned in the year 2019! The other options have literally failed. This issue would frankly keep me from having confidence in the stack if I was to run in production. How could Citrix or XenServerProject let this happen? Including Vates, we're talking about a pretty mature system/dev stack at this point.

Mt_KEGan You could try Windows System repair or reboot the system in safe boot mode. It solved the BOD for our systems yesterday. Win2k19 should behave similar to Win2k22 and show up repair mode & advanced boot options after one or two boot failures.
        HTH.....

HolgiB thank you. Since my instances are just for homelab, I'm waiting for a solution from Citrix/XS/Vates. I can afford to be stubborn and expect the parties that failed to supply a solution. But again thank you, if this was production I would do so. Or just use my backups and migrate data to a working instance. I'm just really curious how this happened and want to test if a solution is provided and when.

Workaround for a fresh installation of Windows Server 2022:

I tried a fresh Installation of Windows 2022 Server. Windows Update installs the PV Storage Driver (XSC000 XENVIF 0) and requests a reboot.

If you open the device manager you will see:
            094a8865-6cd0-4947-95ea-c304de36c53a-image.png

            Details:
            5eadc905-3cec-49da-9456-cd057a7030a0-image.png

Don´t reboot!!! If you reboot you get a BSOD.

You have to manually install 9.3.3 before reboot. Use default settings and select "Install I/O Drivers Now". This will correct the error.
You can check this in the Windows Device Manager.

Now it is possible to reboot.

Excuse me for people who don't speak what looks to be German (though I can't speak or understand it - but can recognise from other places which used similar words in a multi-lingual manual), please translate what the windows say.

@john-c This is just the properties window of the driver that was not installed correctly:
                Driver provider: Unknown
                Driver date: not available
                Driver version: not available
                Signature: not digitally signed

                The window below says:
Driver files for this device are either not required or have been loaded.

Thanks for that Toni. When posting in the main section of the forum it would help please if what's on the windows, if it's in German for it to be translated. That way people who don't speak that language, will then be able to comprehend and potentially help.

@john-c I thougt most of the people use the Google Picture Translator. It is not perfect but you can drag an drop the picture to translate:

Toni I also now personally avoid Google where it's possible to do so, but before starting to do so, it was only capable of translating text not images!

Is there a way to get past the inaccessible boot device message once a 2022 server has hit that without a complete new server reinstall?

igor Yes, if you reboot the VM multiple times you will get into the troubleshooting / repair menu. Choose extended startup options and use safe mode / protected mode for normal bootup. After successful startup of Win2k22 simply log into your VM, reboot it in normal mode and everything should be working fine. Use the device manager to remove any storage adapter / NIC which is grayed out. Reboot once again and your W2k22 VM should be fine. For the 32 Win2k22 VM I recently did in XCP-ng about 40% failed booting with BSOD.
