I use XOA to backup the pool metadata but little lost to the XCP host version.
it seems to suggest this is VM metadata only..... if so there once was a pool backup in xsconsole, has this been removed?

Also if the ability to backup the VM meta is here, why can't XOA backup just the VM meta instead of having to complete a full pool backup/restore?

      Thanks in advance !!

churchers As far as I know, there is no difference.

The xsconsole version is the Pool master saving the entire metadata "database" on storage, where XO backup the same metadata to an external resource.

Basically you only need this backup from one of the backup methods to be able to restore VMs, Networks, Storage LUNs etc. - but it is always a great idea to have these backups done several ways to several sources, as this can make the difference between repairing a broken storage and/or the VMs or having to do a full restore of all from the backup you (hopefully) have somewhere.

indeed, but by definition the xsconsole only seems to state VM data not pool. I was more worried about it not being a full backup. but then in the same take, i like the idea of a VM only meta on XO.

I'm going to put this to bed next week. I'm going to export and compare backup files.

          place bets..
