disk failure
-
hello,
my xcp-ng is reporting two disks in my raid (5disk). sde1 and sdc1. When I run my trurenas scales vm, truenas isn't reporting any disk errors. What is the recommended solution. I will updated my data to stand-alone hard drives as a pre-caustion.
Thanks

@jag5cof Is the disk failure on your server or on your storage device? If you've had two drives fail in the same array, any data that was on them is already gone and unrecoverable (generally speaking).
The below assumes you have two different arrays.
Are you using hardware raid on your server or software raid? If the drives are in different arrays, you may be able to replace a single disk and let the array rebuild. This will put a lot of stress on the remaining drives in the array.Once completed (if successful) you can replace the other drive and let it rebuild as well.

@DustinB I have only one raid, (software) Truenas scales.

What is XCP-ng installed onto? I'm not particularly familiar with the Truenas Scales platform, you may be better to reach out to their team/community for guidance.
But generally speaking, two failed drives in an array, means you've already lost data. Your best bet would be to rebuild the array and then restore your data from backup.
