VM-config - sockets/cores - impact
-
Hi!
For every VM, the number of sockets/cores can be configured, but did you ever see any impact through the NUMA change?
Let's take an AMD Epyc CPU, that provides 4 NUMA nodes.
I want to tune the performance of a Windows/Linux-VM, that has 8 vCPUs assigned.Options:
--> 1 socket, 8 cores
--> 2 sockets, 4 cores each
--> 4 sockets, 2 cores each
--> 8 sockets, 1 cores eachWhat would you prefer, or doesn't this have any performance impact?
Thank you for your thoughts
