      I have a server that had a major hardware failure we had to rebuild the server. when we rebuilt the server it was issued a different hostname and ip address. We added the server to the pool and was able to deploy a vm on the new server.

      the issue is the old server is listed in the pool, we can not remove the server from the pool, on top of that in XOA it is showing 2 vm's running on the ghost server.

      1. how can one clean up the ghost vm's?
      2. remove the reference to the old server form the pool?

        What happens when you try to remove the server from the pool? What specific methods or commands did you try? You may want to review this article to see if it fits your situation.

          [12:52 xcp-ng-01 ~]# xe host-forget uuid=3cbe29ad-6b34-43c9-bc66-14f5652cab41
          WARNING: A host should only be forgotten if it is physically unrecoverable;
          WARNING: if possible, Hosts should be 'ejected' from the Pool instead.
          WARNING: Once a host has been forgotten it will have to be re-installed.
          WARNING: This operation is irreversible.
          Type 'yes' to continue
          yes
          This server cannot be forgotten because there are user VMs still running.
          host: 3cbe29ad-6b34-43c9-bc66-14f5652cab41 (xcp-ng-02)

          how can the vm's be running when the server no longer existes?
