How to detect when Backups fails in XOA!?

  • Hi everyone!

Can you give me an suggestion who I can detect at its best when Backups fails with XOA!?
Is there an possibility to monitor this?

And what can I do to ensure that my Docker-Container with the installed XOA is running?

If it's not running what can I do to get my backed-up VMs working?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,

    I'm not sure to understand.

    1. XOA and Docker? XOA is not available in a container, it's a Debian based virtual appliance. What are you using?
    2. There is a plugin to do that. Have you read our official doc? https://xen-orchestra.com/docs/backup_reports.html

    1. I'm using the Xen Orchestra Community Version in this Docker-Container: https://hub.docker.com/r/ezka77/xen-orchestra-ce
And therefore I thought about an possibility to monitor this Docker-Container and in an DR-Case to get it working asap on an other VM.

    1. This is a 3rd party container not validated nor endorsed by XO devs. We don't know what's inside, if you have questions on it, ask on the Github repo of the maintainer
    2. Backup reports will answer your initial question/requirement (reports can be sent by email, Slack etc.) There's also a Nagios plugin, or you can use XO API to make request to be support in any software of your infrastructure
    3. Monitoring a Docker container is outside scope of XO, I would suggest to ask Docker community.

Regarding XO and how backup are done, any fresh XOA deployed (or from the sources) will be able to find all the previous backup done by an old XOA, because we store every info on the remote.
