VM Snapshot Schedules
-
Hi all,
I am looking for this menu on Xen Orchestra (built from source) can't find it anywhere. Could someone point me in the right direction? Cheers.
-
Hi,
Go for Backup/New/VM/Rolling Snapshot.

Hi @olivierlambert thanks for the quick reply.
When I go to Backup/New/VM I was hoping to see the VM schedule that was created in Center, is it expected that it doesn't show?
Should I erase the one of Center and create a new one? Thank you.

Those features aren't calling the same thing behind the scene.
In short, snapshot schedule exists in XO since 2014. But Citrix decided to "compete" somehow and provided their own solution with XenCenter and some XAPI things, only last year or so.
However, their solution isn't great at all, so you shouldn't use at all the XenCenter thing.
That's also why XO design is superior to XenCenter/XCP-ng: XO is a daemon, so it runs 24/7, unlike XenCenter. So we can implement our own logic in there without modifying XAPI.

Oh ok. I will replace the Center schedule and re-do it here in XO. Thank you so much!
-
You are welcome. We should really ditch XCP-ng Center at some point, but it's all a matter of priorities here…
-
I am really making an effort to change to XO, however many times I still find myself opening Center bc I don't know why I feel the navigation and finding options around is much easier. But ofc this is only a personal opinion and I am sure that in time I will be able to navigate within XO with the same breeze.
I'll try not to be too of a nag. lol
btw, I tried plenty of times to build XO on freebsd but apparently that doesn't work now, or if anyone has some instruction how to do it on FreeBSD that'd be super. Currently using a debian vm. -
I suppose you checked our doc on how to build it on FreeBSD? https://xen-orchestra.com/docs/installation.html#freebsd

@olivierlambert
I posted my issue building on FreeBSD here:
https://xcp-ng.org/forum/topic/3788/issue-with-building-xo-from-source-on-freebsdMaybe its better so this doesn't go too offtopic. regarding this question its solved!
