      Hello,

I have one XCP-ng server up and running, and I am now planning on adding a second (and then hopefully third) server to the setup and create an HA pool. Each of the servers will be connected to a second 10 gig network that is connected to a TrueNAS box for fast VM storage.

The current server is running a Ryzen 7 2700X CPU. I would like to know if it would be best to try and find a similar Ryzen 7 2nd gen CPU, or if it would be OK to go with a different gen AMD CPU (or even go with Intel if I find a good deal) with minimum fuss. I am aware that an increase in the differences in the CPU's leads to more problems with HA, but I would like to know what, if any, risks we face in having a configuration with varying differences in the CPU's.

Any information provided would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

@wade_solarch Short answer: try to avoid that.

Back in the old XenServer days, you had to manually change the cpu feature flags so it would work at all.

This confirms that you can't mix Intel & AMD in a pool

This explains Heterogeneous pools a little
