      So, Broadcom bought VMWare.

It also looks like they're sparing no time showing their cards on how this is going to play out:

My wonder is if this is going to drive companies (especially smaller shops) to re-evaluate and look to XCP or Hyper-V (I'm leaving Citrix out, because they have their own ownership woes to contend with).

Is Vates/XCP as an org ready for a (potential) influx of customers and the level of support they look for?

They are following everyone else to generate forced monthly recurring revenue (MS, Office365, Adobe, Google, Quickbooks, Disney+, Netflix, FB, etc)....

        I like the quote:

"Don’t assume [VMware] business as usual," Warrilow said. He also advised VMware customers to start contingency planning.

I'm not faulting XCP-ng (or others) for generating monthly revenue for active support on opensource products that they develop.

Who knows, monthly fee for VMware may be cheaper than buying it and the support contracts. MS has some good deals if you work it right (datacenter assurance, etc).

Time for XCP-ng to spend some money on advertising...

We already do, but obviously it's not that simple (or you need a LOT more money to be sure to reach more people).
