    • RE: Xen Orchestra VM freezes after first login

As @Danp mentioned, try building XO from source again - this time, use a different build tool. I used this particular script and it worked fine for me. I simply spun up a clean Debian 10 VM and ran the installer script.

Not sure if your build script has problems.

    • XOA Backup/Restore Screen - enhancement suggestions

I am working through our backup/restore testing and noticed a few areas in the XOA GUI that could use some enhancements. I will open a github request to track them but thought I would share it on the forum as well.

      • In the Overview window, add a button on each job to show the job summary (VMs, SRs, job schedule, etc). Right now, you have to edit the job to get these details.

      • In the Overview window, add a button next to each log entry at the bottom to show the entire backup log for each job (or a link to the log somewhere) - not just a summary.

      • In the Overview window, add functionality to show a visual summary for all scheduled jobs - maybe using a calendar style interface (minute/hour/day/week). This is to help avoid running too many backups at the same time.

      • In the Overview window, add functionality to show backup jobs broken down by Pools. In other words, list the backup jobs Site, Pool, and then Name. This is especially true if you are managing multiple sites.

      • In the Restore Window, suggest to add the UUID field in the column list since multiple VMs can share the same VM Name. In addition, the UUID helps correlate the directory on the backup server where the backups live. Right now, we don't know which VM to restore just by using the name. Perhaps add some other details (IP Address, etc) to the column list to better identify the VM.

      • In the Restore window, add functionality to provide a summary when a particular restore is highlighted. The summary would show things like VM details, directory where the backup is stored, timestamps for each job, etc

      • In the Restore window, add functionality to see the entire backup log for each job (similar to above). This would help pinpoint any potential issues with the backup job. Additionally, suggest these backup logs get saved to the backup server(s). The backup logs are needed for both locations (Overview and Restore windows) since the details in the Restore window may be pulled from the backup server in case of XOA recovery from scratch.

      • In the Restore window, suggest moving the search box to the top of the list instead of bottom-right. This search box has a tendency to dynamically move on the screen which is a bit odd. Suggest moving it to the same line as the "Refresh backup list" box.

      • In the Restore window, we would like to see a pagenation box that allows for more than 10 per page. In other words, enable a drop-down box to have 50 or 100 backups shown on a single page - just like the Home--VM page

    • RE: New XOA setup, cant register

@thenorthernlight said in New XOA setup, cant register:

@rkelley I already have the compiled XO version working without issue. However we are moving to paid support, so I'm setting up XOA in preparation. This is an entirely new install using the Quick Deploy, so its rather odd that I cant do anything else.

Gotcha - makes sense. Hope you get your issues sorted out.

    • RE: Xen Orchestra VM freezes after first login

@kingmaiku The fact your ssh session gets disconnected says alot about what is going on. Either a networking issue on the host side (linux bond mode misconfigured) or a duplicate IP address would definitely cause this problem. Look at your network to see what might be wrong...

    • Stuck tasks after enabling Usage Reporting

      Greetings all,

Running XO community edition (built from sources) connected to my XCP-NG 8.2 servers. I enabled the Usage Reporting plugin a couple of days ago, and now I have over 220 stuck tasks that I can't disable or remove. It appears my recent backups are failing as well (presumably due to the number of stuck backups).

Any idea how to find out why the tasks are stuck and how can I delete/unfreeze the tasks?

    • RE: Cannot delete a bonded interface.

@thenorthernlight Sorry for all the back-and-forth questions, but I have been trying to reproduce this on my test machine.

Right now, I have a test machine (VM) running with 3 NICs - eth0, eth1, and eth2. I have assigned eth2 as my management interface with eth0/eth1 inside a bond (active/standby). Next, I configured a VLAN with IP.

I deleted the bond via Home-->Host --> Network, and it seemed to get deleted. However, the VLAN assigned to the bond still remained. Odd. At any rate, I was able to delete the bond.

That said, how are you trying to delete the bond? From Home --> Pools or from Home -->Hosts?

@thenorthernlight Do you have any VLANs or IPs attached to the bond?

@olivierlambert AH! Thanks, I missed that before.

What if the XO config is corrupt. Is there any way to only export the backup schedule?

    • Backup scheduled jobs in XO?

Looking for help to backup our scheduled jobs in XO. I see an option to backup VMs and Metadata, but no option to backup the backup jobs.

      Background
I had to reset our XO configuration today (community edition - built from sources) using this link. Upon logging in, I noticed the backup jobs were lost (as expected). Once I re-added the backup jobs, I could not find a way to backup the backup jobs. The reset was necessary because an old SR Remote was unreachable, and I could not remove it in XO. This old/unreachable SR was causing issues with restoring VMs and metadata (UI would spin and hang)

      Thanks for any pointers.
