You can have a "composite" job where backup could do delta AND continuous replication at the same time.
Thanks and thanks for your help on irc. You are doing an amazing job!

You should probably ask on Xen mailing list or in #xen on OFTC IRC
Since the mass exodus from freenode, is the channel on oftc or libera.chat?
I get this message when connecting to OFTC:

@olivierlambert The xen orchestra quick deploy failed from the web. I restarted the toolstack in hopes that it will fix it.
Is there a way to upgrade XCP from 8.0 to 8.2?
@olivierlambert said in I have a xen orchestra that won't respond on the xcp center console.:
I don't understand. XOA isn't running on Ubuntu.
Do you mean Xen Orchestra from the sources?
Sorry, it is a xen orchestra from source. We call it XOA here.
edit: XCP-ng 8.0 is EOL since a bit now. Only 8.2 is supported.
Ok. Our next step will be to upgrade it to 8.2. So I understand that we won't be able to open a ticket.
In the meantime, I will do the xen orchestra proper install from the web.
@olivierlambert said in I have a xen orchestra that won't respond on the xcp center console.:
You can import a fresh XOA then.
Ok, great.
I went ahead and created a new XOA vm in XCP center from the ubuntu 18 template (with a ubuntu 64-bit 20 lts iso) for over an hour. The earlier task of "create vm" is at about 66%, and the start new vm says "cancelled", as the screenshot shows. I have highlighted the two relevant tasks.
I think something is up with the hypervisor. Unfortunately I can not reboot the physical hypervisor until 4am tonight, as we are an ISP and many of our customers have all of their traffic going through the mikrotik RouterOS cloud-hosted-router vm on this server (66 day uptime).
This XCP is 8.0, build date 2020-06-02, DBV 0.0.1.
@olivierlambert said in I have a xen orchestra that won't respond on the xcp center console.:
Have you force restarted it?
Yes. But first I did the polite restart in XCP Center and waited 30 minutes.
I have a xen orchestra that won't respond on the xcp center console. It's at a remote location.
Can I create a new XOA server on it and disable old one with no ill effects? It's not pooled or part of a vapp. Backups have not run since 7/26.
I ran nmap against the common ports, none are open.

Our existing backup (to the QNAP NAS) is a delta backup. I am guessing the backup to the cold spare should be a nightly CR? Or a delta? It will be a nightly backup. But if it's low enough on resources, the backup could be hourly.
I have nightly backups to a qnap nfs share.
I am building a new XCP as a cold spare, where I will mirror the VMs nightly (and leave in a shutdown state).
Should I create a new backup job or make it part of the existing backup job (the existing job is a delta backup and each individual backup finishes in one hour) at roughly 11pm at the latest?
Both servers are on the same switch.
~~I have our main server and I have installed a secondary XCP server on the network. I would like to do a weekly restore of some VMs to the secondary VM and then do a nightly restore of a few specific VMs. My manager doesn't know Xen well enough to use a storage pool and tbh I don't either - I'll do so down the road.
What is the right strategy to do automatic restores to the secondary from our nightly delta backups on a QNAP NAS?~~
edit: ok, I have found my answer, I should do streaming.
Another question, My XOA VM has the same IP address as my xcp hypervisor. How do I change it?
