10 gig on different subnet
-
Hello: Wondering if there is a document describing how to add a secondary network using 10 gig direct attached sfp+.
I am using a differnet subnet on host and storage server from my managemt network. However, I am not able to ping and establish a connection.

@abelaguilar This is already on the host machine as like a PCIe add in card right?
Normally once you add one of those you should be able to add the network to the pool and then attach that network to a VM.

My goal is to have the management network on 1 gig and my 2 hosts and shared storage server in my pool communicate via the 10 gig connection.
Is there documentation somewhere or a tutorial.
I know this is basic networking , but can't seem to figure it out.

@abelaguilar Oh I think I initially misunderstood, so you are wanting to direct attach SFP to the two hosts and have them communicate over that network for storage?
I think a better solution might be getting a 10GbE capable switch, this is what I do, not sure how well XCP-ng works with direct attached stuff.

@planedrop gotcha ok. i'll try that.

@abelaguilar Sounds good, yeah I think that is the easiest method to go about it, rather than direct attached networking.
