Good day, we also have a problem that we can't export to OVA from the CXP-ng centre. When we try to start export it simply says immediately: "Export failed". We are using v 20.04.01 (server version 8.2)

In the log files we see errors that looks like there is an issue with the transport VM. (Please see logs attached and also copied in below.) xcpnglogs_failed_ova_export.txt

In XenOrchestra, it only gives the option to export as XVA, which will not work - we need an OVA to import the VM into another vmware solution. We are using XO version: xo-server 5.80.0.

      Any help will be appreciated.

      Many thanks.

@walterb_fontana Can't you use VMware vCenter Converter Standalone once you have the XVA?

          Hi,

XCP-ng Center isn't officially supported. Use Xen Orchestra for that 🙂 You can export in OVA in Xen Orchestra BTW.

It's just your XOA version is probably outdated from years. So update it first.

@olivierlambert Aren't there variances between OVA for Xen and OVA for ESXi?

OVA is OVA, it should be interoperable. It's a tarball with an OVF XML file describing the VM, and then actual VM disks. There's obviously many subtle things inside (a bit like Microsoft not really wanting to get a truly interoperable format), but outside that, it should work.

@DustinB Thanks, we're not using VMWare, we're using Oracle's OVM.
