Recovery-boot Linux Live CD - Windows VM - no graphics

Hi!
I am trying to boot a Windows VM with a Linux live CD (recovery mode), but the display is only black with white stripes after the boot menu.
I think, I read about a workaround to get this working, but I do not find it again.
Can you help me?
