any tips or potential issues for removing a master host from a pool?

Will this cause any down time, like requiring the secondary to be restarted when promoted to master or temporary loss of communication from bonded networks, iscsi shared storage issues? and do i need to remove the support license from the host before i do this?

Just change another host in your pool to be the master, and then you can remove this host from the pool.

When you're shutting down this host, you can opt to migrate the VMs off of this host by putting it into maintenance mode or shutting any VMs down ahead of time and then powering down the host.

It's a very simply operation, HTH.

If you are using any local storage SRs on this host, then be sure to migrate them to other storage before you remove the host from the pool.
