Old Backup
-
Without requiring a subscription, I think we could try to fetch once at startup legacy backup jobs and enable the menu entry only if there are someβ¦
@pdonias What do you think?
-
Yeah sounds like a good idea to get rid of this entry
-
@julien-f We could also completely remove the menu entry and simply keep showing the legacy backups (if there are any) in Backup NG like we already do.
-
@pdonias Why not, but be ready to have some confused users and maybe some complaints
-
I don't think there's a lot of legacy backups out there. Maybe we could remove the entry but for people complaining, tell the URL to access it.
Then after a while (and no complain), we could get rid of the UI part.
So it's a 2 steps, and more easier solution. What do you think?
-
I don't think it would be an issue to always (ie until XO 6, maybe?) show the legacy backups in the Backup NG view. We can even show them at the top of the page to make sure users don't miss them.
@julien-f Complaints about what? Not finding their backups? -
Not seeing the menu entry they are used to.
Note that I'm not opposed to the change, that's just something we have to keep in mind.
-
@julien-f I don't think there will be that many complaints since:
- as @olivierlambert said, there shouldn't be that many legacy backups any more
- if you're looking for your backups, you'll most likely click on the only menu entry that says "backup"
- legacy backup users have already been used to going to the Backup NG view to see their legacy backups for a while now because when you go to the Backup view, there's already a message telling you the legacy backups aren't shown there any more
Am I being too optimistic?
-
@pdonias Nope, I agree, let's make this happen?
-
I'm fine with that
