      Hi!
      I have two DELL PE2950 servers with E5430@2.66GHz processors 32GB, both running XCP-ng 8.2.1.
I'm having issues with virtual machines performance.
      I use local storage.

      Its unsupported CPU?
The problem manifests itself when accessing individual files (or threads?), and is visible in top as approximately equal values for %user and %system. %wait is close to zero (meaning it's not an I/O issue).
At the same time, on the hypervisor side, xentop shows load spikes up to 100% VM utilization.
The problem is easily reproducible using acme.sh.
The simple command acme.sh list takes seconds to execute inside the VM, but runs very quickly inside the hypervisor's bash shell.

      Help please!

        Hi !

PE2950 is very old hardware, I'm not surprised you have some issues with it 😅
Honesty if you can, try to find newer hardware. This generation is also inefficient when looking at the power/performance ratio

What OS are you running on the VMs? Do you have the guest tools installed on them?

@whyberg The E5430 does not support EPT/SLAT.... without EPT the system uses shadow paging so virtual machines will be slower. Also, you can't run XCP 8.3.
