Looking for a temporary test host with a nVIDIA GPU
-
I have a test host right now with a GeForce GT730. Happy to use it as a test. I have been trying to get this darn NVIDIA to do passthrough so that I can run Folding@Home on a VM (using Docker I might add!!!), but the passthrough has not been successful so far, since it is not a commercial GPU.

You need modified Nvidia drivers in the VM to make it work
-
So I hear. But don't know where to look @olivierlambert . That said I'm more than happy to contribute what I can to the XCP-NG project. DM me
-
I think you can find it on GitHub, I don't remember but I googled a bit about the error returned by the driver in the VM and found the patch
-
Thanks. Did you still need a test bed for the next version of XO?
-
For the tests we had a need for 1 week ago, it's now fine, however I'll probably update this thread once we have an ISO image that can be tested by users that have such hardware. Note: it's not about using the GPU itself, but simply about making sure that the hypervisor works well with the changes we made to replace the not-built-by-us
gpumon
tool whose absence would make XCP-ng 8.1 unbootable (as we sadly found out after the release) with a dummy one built by us. -
No worries. Happy to help!

It's been reported the patch is working on Xen, but I couldn't get it to work on XCP
-
Are you sure we are talking about the same patch?
-
Not sure which one you are referring to, I'm referring to this
-
I was talking about the modded Nvidia driver, which is a solution working inside the VM.
-
do you have a link to which one you are referring to?
-
I've got a NVIDIA card in my lab, but I probably need to install that driver you're talking about.
Are there any instructions on the wiki?01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK107 [NVS 510] (rev a1)

gpumon
and we need users who have nVIDIA GPUs to test it and give us feedback. There may be situations we have not tested where our dummygpumon
is not enough to make the XAPI happy, despite the fact that we don't support nVIDIA vGPUs (proprietary software from Citrix required for that feature).
