Has anyone mentioned support for Windows 11, and TPM 2 yet?
I should clarify, meeting the requirements of TPM 2 for Windows 11 guests. Does XCP have the ability to pass through the features of TPM 2, or emulate them?

        Hi,

I'm still waiting for an official ISO to test it thoroughly but first test seems to be working.

And this would only be on hardware that has TPM on board (and passed through to VM), or some sort of emulated TPM? We still have many hosts on Citrix 7.1, and XCP 7.6 because the RAID hardware doesn't work (monitoring software) doesn't work in XCP 8+.

At the moment we still not completely sure W11 will enforce TPM 2 or if it will be possible to get around the limitation.
Not sure what will come with the official ISO and can't really test without it unfortunately.
So i'm sorry but i don't really have an answer on TPM2.

Made some testing this morning as Microsoft as release the new pc health check for W11.
The tool report TPM missing from a W10 VM so ye we will probably have to look further into it.

Hopefully you've been looking, if not this is a friendly reminder 🙂

i've had operators already using Win 11, the pre-release, it looks like tho. Looks like Hyper-V obviously has support for it, and maybe VmWare. I've not seen anything from Citrix, nor Oracle yet.

It's planned to add it, but do not expect it for the next week. Reasonably, we could expect something in 2022.

Do you now have access to the ISO's for testing? I see them on my volume license download and it is available from the evaluation center (Enterprise ISO). The volume license has VDA listed, but it downloads as a normal ISO, not a VDA as previous versions. Maybe it still works but is configured for VM's which might negate the TPM issue. I'll have to try and see what it does, my hosts definitely don't have TPM2, not even sure they have a TPM module on them at all because they are old Xeon X5650 processors and not sure TPM was a big thing way back then. Dell C1100 servers.

@greg_e Yes i have tested it since last week, you can't install or update directly from the official ISO but Microsoft has released an official workaround so in facts you can install or upgrade without TPM2.

If you want to install from an ISO i recommend creating it with this tool
They also provide a simple script to set the registry key to upgrade with official ISO. I've tested install and upgrade it's working but be aware it's not officially supported by Microsoft if you don't use a TPM2 platform.

I just tried with the win11 VDA ISO and it failed, it does not seem to have any VDA just the regular installers. I'll have to look into ways to get this going, still working my way through MDT to create an image and PEboot that I can use with WDS on my production system.

Looks like Citrix is on the case, but no idea when.

Yes, I told them we'd like to cooperate to release something faster.

To update this, since this is the first result when you google "Windows 11 xcp-ng":

Development is on-going on the XAPI project, an minimal set of features is ready and will probably be available in XCP-ng 8.3 beta within a few weeks.

As you can see, the first alpha was not released in September 😉

Another XCP-ng pre-release will be done with vTPM, since there's more progress on upstream side (Citrix). When is hard to tell since it's not our call for this component 🙂
