xapi seems to broken after a Power Failure
-
You have first to get a clear idea on your existing setup. You still did not answer regarding the disk setup: is the SR on a dedicated disk or partition?
In any case, you'll have to be certain to not modify the previous existing SR. If your install was already an upgrade, you might salvage the XAPI.
There's so many ways to do it, but also depending on so many different setup, there's no universal answer
-
@olivierlambert I'm pretty sure these server are upgraded from older XenServer.
And since it only shows up one drive in BIOS It should be partition -
@LunarstarPony If I remember correctly I think it's update from XenServer 5.6 to XCP-ng 7.0 and then XCP-ng 8.2.
-
@olivierlambert I haven't reinstall yet but when I'm wondering around I do see that there's a backup for the 7.0 XCP-ng. Is it possible to get the database from there?
-
Yes but the database will be outdated and will work only for the version it was installed on (eg XenServer 7.0).
BTW, there's no such thing as XCP-ng 7.0
-
@olivierlambert What will happened if I restore the backup? And update it again?
-
@LunarstarPony Oh and maybe it's 7.5 xD
-
If you restore the backup, you'll have your XAPI DB as it was before you made the upgrade
-
@olivierlambert Hugh Alright Sounds like I should able to just restore the backup and upgrade it again then?
-
@olivierlambert If that's the case I'd give it a go later
-
That's a possibility, yes. If you think the DB state back in there is still relevant and you didn't create a lot of VM since your upgrade.
-
@olivierlambert It does fixed the system issue even tho now there's quite a few of Orphan VDIs on the System but at least the server's back. Thx a lot!
-
Great!
Next time, don't forget to get metadata backup for the pool. At least, your XAPI DB will be saved!
-
@olivierlambert I now have both server in a Pool now and I'll also remember to backup them as well
-
@olivierlambert How can I backup Metadata directly? Seems like I'll need at least Enterprise if I want to backup it via XOA
-
@LunarstarPony Either via Command line or SFTP or XCP-ng Center?
-
In XO: New backup/Metadata/Pool Metadata, select the backup repository, and that's it
What XOA Edition do you have?
-
@olivierlambert Oh I got it working! Thanks a lot!
-
@olivierlambert Oh BTW Since now I got a remote storage using NFS and I notice we got a thick provisioned disk(lvm), if I migrate the disk from that server to our new NFS Remote Storage, will that make the Virtual Disk thin and release the extra spaces? or it will remain as a Thick provisioned disk?
-
@LunarstarPony If it will still remain as a thick provisioned disk is there a way to change it to thin and reclaim space?
