The system gives only the base frequency
-
@NikFer
I don't see this as an XCP-NG issue. A hardware forum where someone can help with overclocking would be a better place to post. -
@NikFer This is very likely a BIOS setting. My experience has been with Dell hardware, so I cannot speak specifically to SuperMicro configurations, but see if this might help or check one of the SuperMicro forums: https://www.supermicro.com/support/faqs/faq.cfm?faq=21555

Are you talking about "base clock" vs "turbo clock"?
If yes, you can try:
xenpm get-cpufreq-para | fgrep turbo
--> To see, if turbo is possible
xenpm start 1|grep "Avg freq"
--> To see the average frequency
xenpm set-scaling-governor performance
--> To force Turbo-Mode
Stress the CPU and check, if the clock is above "base clock"...

@KPS seems to show that you can make a turbo! But for some reason, in guest operating systems everything is 2.2 GHz

@KPS In guest VM with CentOS7:
lscpu | grep "MHz"
CPU MHz: 2200.217 -

@NikFer
This is common for all virtualization products, I have ever been using.https://communities.vmware.com/t5/VMware-Workstation-Pro/CPU-frequency-setting-in-VM/td-p/1856672
https://communities.vmware.com/t5/VMware-Workstation-Pro/Guest-cpu-frequency-shows-base-speed/td-p/492350But: Do you think, the community will get motivated by finding your "I will just post lots of screenshots and uncommented output and you are free to find out, what I want"?

@KPS Good day. I'll try to explain in more detail. For the above processors, I set turbo mode in the BIOS and want to get turbo frequency in guest virtual machines. but if I use command xenpm, I can see that there is a turbo frequency. But the hymervisor itself in the xen center does not show the turbo frequency. And the same in guest VMs.

@lawrencesystems Hello! This question is directly related to the hypervisor.
-
@KPS And I’m also trying to install the oops utility cpupowerutils, but nothing works - Epel release is not installed. Is it worth installing? Will it help me?
