I have tried to use import from VMWARE in XO (built from sources). The machine start up but only a black screen on console. Maybe photonOS is incompatible with xcp-ng? Anyone have any experience?

Have you tried to switch between UEFI and BIOS?

          Thanks for the reply.
Yes, in VM-ware it is BIOS, same in XCP. Didnt try UEFI.

photonOS is a minimized and optimized from VM-ware and for containers. It probably needs some drivers to be able to run on XCP.

The installation ISO crashed directly if I try to install from scratch. Moving the VM results in a startscreen, then it stops reading from disk and processor is 100%, som very minimal network traffic and a black screen with a prompt stays on.

I will need to move Docker and all files instead ....?

          /Best regards

You should ask people from photonOS I assume, it's hard to answer for what they provide or not here.

@johuus I tried the same and had no sucess so far. You could try to migrate with star winds v2v. That's something I have not tried yet. Mine is still in vmware for now.

However. Im just using docker in photonos. It's properly way easier to setup a regular Linux vm and install docker. This would give you os/security updates as well.

There is nothing special about photonos it was just very convenient to deploy on vmware in my opinion.

Thanks for feedback. No success here. I will move docker instead to a new VM.
