Is this the "best practice" method of migrating VMs from Proxmox to XCP-ng?

Hi,

You can directly convert qcow2 to VHD without any problem (no need to go to VMDK in the middle)
IDK the existing Proxmox export format supported if you want to import the VM directly, not just the disks.

No, to be fair, most of our new customers (almost 100%?) are coming from VMware, not Proxmox. But if we have more demand for it, why not. It's just we prioritize

1: Yes, I have seen some of AtaxyaNetwork Proxmox posts. I'll go back and read them again.
2: No big deal, I only have like 5 vm's on Proxmox, V2V is my choice of tools!
