      Hi,

      I m trying to save a vm from a server which died because a powersurge.
      I managed to boot up the hypervisor in a new chasis, and to do a vm export, but it seems like xe vm-export, exported the last vm state in which the vm was exported(almost a year old state), and not the latest running state, in which the vm ran.

      So my question is what does xe vm-export does exactly. Can i recover the latest running state (data on disk).

        Hi!

        VM export is doing an export of the current disk state (if the VM is shutdown). Double check you are not exporting an old snapshot of the VM.

          @olivierlambert Indeed,
          xe vm-export uuid=<uuid of the vm> filename=/<path>/backup.xva
          exports the current disk state. Thank you.
