XAPI simulator?
-
Hi guys,
Is anyone aware of existence of a simulator for XAPI - something against you could run an app that uses XAPI? That would be great for testing apps in development.

You can imagine we (XO team) wanted something like that for years. But no, XAPI devs told us it doesn't exists.
The closed thing you can get is a XAPI dumb data you could use locally to "emulate" something, but it will be "read" only, no way to do migrate operations etc.

There is something like a demo mode for XCP-ng Center: https://github.com/xcp-ng/xenadmin/wiki/Play-around-without-Server-(Demomode)
With this, real pools are simulated and the automated tests of XCP-ng Center / XenCenter are made.
Maybe that's a starting point for some creative hacking/prototyping?

Of course, these are the current limitations, but migrating a vm was possible in my tests.

It's not a XAPI simulator per se, it's just a DB inserted in XenCenter. There is no standalone XAPI simulator, at least none core XAPI team is aware.

Thanks for the replies. I pretty much thought so. I'm sure Citrix has something internally, they just don't want to share it with rest of us

No believe me. They don't have it. But they have a huge farm of test hardware. That's why they don't need an emulator…
