      Hi,

      I'm working out my way through XCP-ng and XO, I've managed to create a Windows Server 2019 VM and a Lubuntu VM.

      I'm using XO appliance to manage, it's being a nice experience so far, but I have some questions by now:

      1- Is it possible to add an additional DVD drive to a VM, or even removing the existing one (used initially for install ISO)?

      2- During the process of installing Lubuntu, the console just disappeared. After some time (didn't know if it was doing something or not), I jumped into the command line and issued a forced shutdown on the VM. The Lubuntu was 16.04.3 (desktop) and template "Ubuntu Xenial Xerus 16.04". What could be the cause for this console problem?

      3- What should be the best approach to choosing a template that doesn't match the image I'm using? For instance, if I want to install a TinyCore 10.1 linux, I don't seem to find a more Generic Linux template. There is an "Other install media" template, but this doesn't feel an appropriate generic template for a linux image. What could be the best choice?

      Thank you.

        Hi!

        1. I'm not sure to get the question. Why? Can you explain the use case? As soon you add an ISO in the CD drive, it will be visible in the VM.
        2. Hard to tell, I'm not aware of such issues.
        3. "Other install media" is pretty fine. It's a "default HVM" template.

          1- One use case would be to provide an ISO with drivers, and another ISO with a bootable image, both during initial install. And more generically, to know about this possibility, just for the sake of comparing how this is/can be managed on XCP-ng, since for instance on other virtualization solutions, we have a more low-level approach (if we can say that from a virtualization environment) on adding hardware to the VM;

          2- Uhm I got a bit worried with this. Is there a way of refreshing, force refreshing or just having access to the console output, maybe with VNC or something similar?

          3- Have to try it. Do we have the possibility to change or create new templates?

          Thanks

            1. Hmm I think it might be possible using xe CLI and creating the drives manually (creating VBDs I suppose). I never spotted such a use case before, but again, might be doable 🙂
            2. It is using VNC (via noVNC in XO).
            3. You can copy a template, but a template is just a set of "configuration" for your VM (eg PV or HVM mode, some virtual BIOS settings).
