linux physical to virtual
-
Hi, I need to convert Ubuntu physical servers to VMs on XCP-NG
Some advice?
A thousand thanks -
- Select a new VM with a template that's similar to your physical OS (select name, description etc.)
- Select the right disk size, CPU, memory that you need for this new VM
- Select clonezilla ISO and boot it
Now will be ready as Clonezilla destination.
On source (the physical machine), insert clonezilla CD and boot on it (usb key or CD). Then you will tell Clonezilla the destination, which will be ready on the previous step. Follow instruction, and Clonezilla will send disk blocks to the destination.
When it's done, remove the clonezilla ISO, reboot the destination VM and you should boot on your operating system. Install tools.

Hi!
Sure, I would use CloneZilla for this I suppose

@olivierlambert Hi Olivier,
I've never done a P2V migration from Linux.
Do you have a migration procedure with CloneZilla?
Thank you -
