EOL: XCP-ng Center has come to an end (New Maintainer!)
-
@petr-bena thank you, I see that the build is different, I downloaded my version from your resource:
https://cloud.bena.rocks/s/kEWmsmg8ABtQJZe
please tell me, where can I get a newer build? -
I just downloaded it myself from same link and tried, look on the screenshot, versions are matching, it works to me. I think you must have some different problem, maybe firewall?
-
@petr-bena it's definitely not a firewall, XO is working. Maybe the problem is in windows 2008 server r2, I run xencenter on it. Perhaps it does not support any new encryption protocols, this is an assumption.
-
@AbyssMoon I run it on Windows 10, but I think it's weird it worker before and now it doesn't. Do you have any other newer Windows available to try it on?
-
@petr-bena I tried to run the 24158 build on windows 10, everything really works, thank you. The problem is with the outdated windows 2008 server R2 operating system.
P.S. I've never had it work on this machine with xp-ng 8.3, I thought the reason was the latest patch. -
@petr-bena Dear Petr-bena
Does you have public this Builds (follow your screenshot) ? My xcp-ng download from your first build is 24158. -
@AbyssMoon the tip of the development branch (commit cd4c62ee) builds in VS2022 and produces a functional XCP-ng Center. If you have the tools, you can just fork the repo (or clone it) and build locally.
The github workflow doesn't appear to be working, as far as I can tell, so perhaps that is why the 'latest' release is from January.
-
Seeing that 8.3 is released now, I will do some cleanup of what I have, and get a 24.11 release out after some testing with 8.3 GA.
On XenServer, This is designed for XCP-ng, not XenServer, so its support will be limited if at all supported. I seen some bug reports for XenServer, I will close those as wontfix, sorry.
-
Also, I do apologize for slow updates. I have been working on tons of projects and will try to get some time to get this a good alternative to people who want a desktop app.
-
Forgot one last thing, even tho i may not be day to day programming on XCP-ng Center, please feel free to ask for pull requests. Ill definitely will look at them and merge them if they fit.

@michael-manley Thank you Michael (and patch- and issue-submitters), some clients/users find XCP-ng Center faster for some tasks and like it for familiarity's sake.
Your efforts are much appreciated for making XCP-ng less daunting for a number of people I know - thanks again.
If you are still perchance looking for potential additions, having a (selectable/slide out) right-side of screen (or bottom perhaps) area for showing the running list of tasks (current and history) would make seeing what is going on easier (a quality-of-life issue) rather than switching to it for users (thus making usage and tracing of 'events' faster).
Something like that would be really welcome in XO too !
