    • RE: Delta backup fails on SMB remote

@Darkbeldin I did a lot of tests months ago, changed the NFS from 3 to 4.1 as well and never managed to match the speed of SMB.

"What's the appliance behind your remote?"
I'm sorry, but I don't understand the question...
you mean what kind of external Storage for backups? truenas on a NexentaStor SC216.

    • RE: Delta backup fails on SMB remote

@olivierlambert Hi, sorry for writing here but I didn't want to open a topic just out of curiosity/doubt.
I have been reading the backup documentation in XOA and it says that they don't advise backups with SMB if the VMs are bigger than 50GB. Why?
I have configured 2 different backups and I noticed that with SMB is much faster than with NFS... how is it possible? but in the end as you say that it is not recommended I have left the NFS.

    • RE: Keep getting "HTTP connection has timed out" on my Delta Backup

@olivierlambert Yes, it seems so. The switches are of different brands between RACs and since a year ago the datacenter was divided in 2 companies and we are not sure how they have organized the networks.
Then I had another error but with "rescan all disks" on the host it was solved.
      🙂

    • RE: Keep getting "HTTP connection has timed out" on my Delta Backup

      @ronivay thank you 🙂
I kept having network problems... many servers were losing connectivity.
After realizing that the backup traffic goes through xoce first, I found the problem as the VMs (RAC1) were going through xoce (RAC2) and then back to RAC1 (Synology).
I created an XOCE clone VM on RAC1 and the backups now run without "HTTP connection has timed out" and no network flapping.

    • RE: Keep getting "HTTP connection has timed out" on my Delta Backup

      @ToasterUwU Hi,

      where to create this file?
I have XOCE self compiled and I have several routes with xo-server:

      /opt/xo/xo-builds/xen-orchestra-202208011909/packages/xo-server/
      /opt/xo/xo-src/xen-orchestra/packages/xo-server/
      /var/lib/xo-server
      /opt/xo/xo-server (I think here "systemd")

I have 2 very large VMs of 400GB that whenever I try to configure a backup I get "time out" and during the time it tries there is a lot of instability in the network / RAC.
Most of the VMs and physical servers lose connectivity.
      With NFS I never could
With SMB it works with truenas being in another RAC but the network problems always appear.
This time I set up a SMB on synology in the same RAC thinking that the problem would be due to the amount of transfer between RACs but even being in the same RAC gives me the same error.

@tony said in How to change the Ip access to a web address?:

AFAIK you just need to point the host name/domain name to the IP and it will work, you don't have to change any configuration in XOA

You mean on my DNS Server?

Thanks , worked adding a new registry on my DNS Server.

Hi, I used a 3rd party script of ronivay on Github.

      Old VM

      New VM

I simply mean that I want to access through a web address and not through the Ip of where XOA is installed.

    • How to change the Ip access to a web address?

      Hello,
I've been looking for a couple of days how to change my XOA access mode from Ip to web address and I can't find anything.
I have an old VM with XOA and it's accessed by web address and I've grepped the whole system and I haven't found anything except some configuration in var/lib/cloud/data/ but in the new VM does not exist that path .
I was hoping to find something in some XOA configuration, /etc/xo-server or /var/lib/xo-server/.
And since it works without Apache or Nginx I'm having a hard time finding a way.
I found only the way to activate SSL.

Does anyone know what steps I have to do ?

      Thanks

      Regards

@vbits PS. Assuming I do a rolling snapshot schedule job of all VMs on the host of course.

    • RE: rolling snapshot no appears more on Xen Orchestra

@olivierlambert Interesting, understood, thank you again.
So the snapshot itself doesn't take up hardly any space, just a few megabytes as you said.
I guess the rolling feature will do the snapshots one by one.
So it would be enough for me to have as free space a little more than the biggest virtual disk of the host.
      Or am I wrong?
Right now I don't know if I have any SR thin on any other host as well, but would the situation apply?

@vbits One last question, can you tell me please how much on average or what percentage of the VM is the size of a snapshot? (with and without memory)

I had not looked at it there! I just looked at jobs and schedules.
      thank you very much!

@danp Yes, thank you. I also found that post. What a pity, and can anyone think of a script to be able to do it by cron or some other alternative? I'm very bad with that...

    • rolling snapshot no appears more on Xen Orchestra

      Hi guys,
today I installed a new VM to install a new XOA.
      The old one was: xo-server 5.57.3 and xo-web 5.57.1
      The new one is: xo-server 5.81.0 and xo-web 5.85.0

In the old one I wanted to configure a daily rolling snapshot with a 5 days retention. (vm.rollingSnapshot)
But I always got the error : no value for user_ip.

And today when I finished installing the new VM and new XOA and importing the configuration I realized that the function does not exist anymore.
      Is it deprecated?
What alternative or how can I now configure a daily snapshot with retention?
I only see the option to make a snapshot job but I don't want to accumulate too many snapshots and this function doesn't have a retention option.

Should I do a cron or something via terminal?

      Thanks

      Regards
