    • XenServer 8 Released

Looks like it's gone gold today:

"XenServer 8 is now supported for production use, including Windows 11."

      • xenserver website (additional info in blog)

Looking forward to XCP-ng 8.3 when ready.

@michael-manley Sounds fantastic! Should allow for GUI additions flexibility as well.

    • RE: XCP-ng Windows PV tools announcements

@dinhngtu Further trialing showed this issue is confined to one host and all its VMs (including Linux ones) - please consider this issue resolved and not related to Windows PV tools (incidentally, in this particular case there were no verified drivers enabled and no drivers currently verified on the Windows VMs). Apologies for mistaking this as a Windows PV tools issue.

    • RE: XCP-ng Windows PV tools announcements

@dinhngtu Just wanted to pass along some feedback from trialing the newest version (9.2.350) -- in case it's helpful.

When comparing to the previous version (9.1.200 -- and earlier versions as well) on Windows 11 Pro VM (with latest updates), this new version results in noticeably slower VM restart and shutdown times (at least when monitored via xenadmin [on Windows] and xenadminqt [on Linux]).

... Just remembered I updated XCP-ng at the same time to the latest iteration, perhaps the slowdown may be related to that.

@dinhngtu Thank you for the nice update. Just wondering, is it/will it be possible to disable the tray icon somehow (if an additional icon in the tray is not desired)? Even a persistent reg entry would be fine if too much hassle to add option to installer.

    • RE: xsconsole UI Bug/Randomness?

The unusual one happened to occur on a Master (though not all Masters have this reverse ordering).

(Not a major issue in itself - just curious as such discrepancies are not generally found in software.)

    • xsconsole UI Bug/Randomness?

Coming across something unusual on two identical hardware 8.3 hosts (latest updates applied) in xsconsole:

Standard (as shown on most hosts):

      22b17fde-7a76-418e-9203-1bf751525645-image.png

Reverse order (of selections) just in this category (on one host):

      6faccf04-69d9-497a-b9c8-870a3315ac2b-image.png

Any ideas on why there is this UI discrepancy/difference (both screenshots taken within seconds of each other)?

    • RE: EOL: XCP-ng Center has come to an end (New Maintainer!)

@michael-manley Thank you Michael (and patch- and issue-submitters), some clients/users find XCP-ng Center faster for some tasks and like it for familiarity's sake.

Your efforts are much appreciated for making XCP-ng less daunting for a number of people I know - thanks again.

If you are still perchance looking for potential additions, having a (selectable/slide out) right-side of screen (or bottom perhaps) area for showing the running list of tasks (current and history) would make seeing what is going on easier (a quality-of-life issue) rather than switching to it for users (thus making usage and tracing of 'events' faster).

Something like that would be really welcome in XO too 😉 !
