      According to https://xen-orchestra.com/#!/xo-pricing
Hub is available to all tiers. However if I build from source, Hub shows as not available.

I built from sources with Jarli's script about 5 days ago.

@cryolithic-0 said in Hub not available:

All tiers of XOA, which isn't the same as XO from sources. 😉

@danp So the homelabber like me has no good option then... I can build from sources but lose out on features in XOA, or I can run free but lose out on features that are in paid tiers that I can't pay for even if I wanted to.

Given the above pain in the ***, why should I bother with XCP-ng? I can't recommend we use it at work because I can't gain the requisite knowledge to feel familiar with it. When I have options like Proxmox, VMUG, Hyper-V, etc available for free/cheap that I can stand up and use full functionality for as long as I need in a lab environment, why deal with this feature effery in my limited free time?

@cryolithic-0 You can run both XO and XOA as separate VMs. That should address your concerns.

@danp I can, but again, why when I don't have to with the alternatives. I quite like XCP and XOA, but all this faffing around to administer a single instance, makes me reticent to start migrating the other nodes off proxmox.

I'll check back in and try running it again in a couple of years to see if the landscape has improved. I simply don't have the time to hack together a working system just to see if it is as good as I think it is.

I understand that it's an open-source product that they need to monetize to keep the project running and relevant. I would even pay for a 'labber edition with community support but all the actual features in one place, however, they don't offer an option for me at all.

Okay, cool down and let me explain a bit 🙂

That's because those templates are not part of Xen Orchestra software itself, because those VM templates are things we build and assemble on our part, then upload to our own servers, hosted for people registered with the virtual appliance (XOA). So using XO from the sources is not losing any XO features because XOA hub templates aren't part of it 🤷 This is extra stuff outside XO scope, that we give for free for our XOA users (yes, XOA Free users). So we do not get any money for this.

It's just operating systems pre-configured with Cloudinit installed (or sometimes not). Again, it's not part of XO itself, and nothing prevent you to build your own templates, ready with Cloudinit.

I hope it's more clear now.
