Note: This doesn't impact Vates, nor XCP-ng and Xen orchestra projects 🙂

        Hi Olivier,

What does this mean for XCP-ng? I guess as XCP-ng is opensource it will not be affected?

        Thanks.

        Jack.

We are not affected at all 🙂 That's the perk of being fully independent!

But this is pretty big, consequences on techs teams inside Citrix aren't clear yet. Will Citrix be split to multiple entities? Hard to say. Some assets sold to another company? Too early to have a clue.

But this is something we'll keep on our radar obviously 🙂

Saw this on reddit and thought for just a second "crap... what does this mean for my Xenservers" and then I thought... "Oh yeah, nothing! I run XCP-NG everywhere!" Thanks team for making that a reality!

haha thanks, yes that's exactly why it was great to "protect" the software with our fork 🙂

Do we know anything about the continued development of Xenserver? I mean, isn't XCP-ng using Xenserver as upstream still, or is this going to change?

Well, I would say it's not directly an "upstream", it's a bit more another "downstream" from Xen and XAPI project (at least that's the idea).

It's far too early to answer about XenServer, plus the fact I'm not in Citrix board 😉 So I can't tell. I know it's generating revenue, so as long there's money, things won't disappear into thin air (support contracts and so on).
