Unfortunately we aren't on a paid plan (though that is definitely in our future plans). I was able to sort out the CD drive so I should be good to move forward with our migration even if we have to have virtual box as a middleman. It's only a handful of VMs anyway so this shouldn't be a big lift.

      Thanks!

Okay, if you can have a harmless OVA causing the issue, I'll be happy to take a look at the OVF file into it and check why it's broken 🙂

@astrugatch @olivierlambert We recently converted a VM from Vmware with OVFtool. Did you tried to re-run the ovftool command to convert OVA in OVF? I get the same error as you and solved when we converted the OVA in OVF, then imported without any error with XCP-NG Center.

Did you just rerun the VMWareOVF tool and re-create the OVA? Did you need to modify the command at all?

              I'm just running

              OVFTool "Source.ovf" "Destination.ova"

Is there any option that needs to be added to the command or did the first run just not work properly?

                @astrugatch we did the opposite:

                1. Converted the VM from Vmware with OVFTool in .OVA format
                2. Converted the .OVA file in .OVF file
                3. Then.. imported the OVF file in XCP with XCP-NG Center ✔

In Xen Orchestra it is looking for an OVA and doesn't take an OVF.

                  My process so far was:

                  • export template inside VCenter (OVF and Disk image)
                  • Convert OVF+Disk to OVA with OVF Tool
                  • Import OVA to XO.

Switching out step two to an import and export in VirtualBox worked, but obviously not our preferred option.

@astrugatch Hi there...I just did this same process a wk or 2 ago and had 0 issues. The cmd I ran to create the OVA was like:

                    "ovftool.exe vi://FQDN-of-vCenter/VM-Folder-View-Path-To-VM-to-Import/<name-of-VM> C:\OVA<name-of-VM>.ova"

I also ran the cmd to create an OVF similar to above:
                    "ovftool.exe vi://FQDN-of-vCenter/VM-Folder-View-Path-To-VM-to-Import/<name-of-VM> C:\OVF-folder"

                    URL I used for reference:
                    https://www.vmwarearena.com/export-vm-to-ova-or-ovf-using-ovf-tool/

Try one of those and see if it works. The OVA import worked great for me when I imported into XO. OVF isn't supported tho, sadly 😕

                    Best.

Trying to get it as an OVA using the OVF tool directly out of VCenter. I will see how it goes. Downloading the OVA now.

And...when I do export, I use some desktop computer to do so. When you run the tool cmd, you are getting prompted for credentials to vCenter? And, it takes like 10mins or so to export your VM?

I managed to get line of sight between the two hosts and when I enter my VMWare credentials I can see all the VMs and select one to import, but when I go to import I get the error:

no opaque ref found in undefined

                                  in XO

@astrugatch At this point, I'd submit your ova to the Vates team as they requested to have them look inside it to verify you're exporting what is needed to be able to import into XO
