[XOA] Problem with AltGr and space bar while installing a VM
-
Re: VM console borks with "Alt Gr" key
After months of hesitation, we are massively testing XOA for the administration of our 30 Xen servers.
We encounter the same problem described in previous topic when using the AltGr key and the space bar (useful for checking / unchecking during the text mode installation of linux).
Do you think you can fix this problem?Regards,

What is your keyboard layout in your own system?
Also, you might try with XO Lite very soon to see if it's better with a more recent version of noVNC
-
Hello Olivier,
We are using FR (azerty) keyboard layout.

I said "very soon" This month in theory. That will let you test the keyboard thing with a more recent version of NoVNC
-
Do you experience the issue on Windows? (or another OS?)

Pinging @pdonias

Might be related to this issue: https://github.com/vatesfr/xen-orchestra/issues/5033.
-
Yup a test with XO Lite would be interesting until we get something fixed in XO 6
-
If you want to test quickly with XO Lite:
wget https://lite.xen-orchestra.com/dist/ -O /opt/xensource/www/xolite.html
Then, from a Chrome based browser (console won't work in Firefox until we release a fix in XCP-ng), go to your host URL:
https://<HOST_IP>/xolite.html
Then please report if your problem is solved.
-
Awesome. Thank you for the link.
We will try it asap (Friday is perfect for testing :D).Tiki10

Note this is less than an alpha version, there's no CSS whatsoever, but you should be able to click on a running VM to access the console.

Yes, the
wget
command must be run on your host directly, logged in SSH as root (or from the console). -

I am using Swedish keyboard and I experience the sticky AltGr issue on all consoles on both Windows and Linux guests. There is no problem in XCP-ng center.
Using TrueNAS, there is a webbased shell/console which works fine with AltGr, so I think the current problem is a limitation of something in XO. It is very frustrating because I need AltGr to type things like '|' and '@' or '$', which I need often.
-
@S-Pam we already know that's a noVNC bug (the web VNC console we use in XO). It might be fixed in a more recent version, therefore the XO Lite test you should do
-
Done ! I'm aware that it's a beta.
At least, AltGr is working
Not sure about what I can do with XO lite for the moment except manager a VM through it, but it's a step forward
Thank YouTiki10

Okay so it means it's fixed in more recent noVNC versions
XO 6 will get the latest version, and XO Lite is about to be released with minimal "theme" for the end of the month.
We hope to get first XO6 for the end of the year.

XO 6 looks like it will be a nice release! Looking forward to it. Will you be writing something about it on the XOA blog?
-
Yes we will (and we did!) See https://xen-orchestra.com/blog/devblog-3-working-on-xo-6/
It's a BIG rework because we'll change the ENTIRE system, from the API to the UI, and various mechanisms.
