    • very slow disk ssd support all vms xcp-ng8.2.1

      Screenshot 2026-02-20 00.18.26.png (Screenshot 2026-02-19 23.38.19.png link url))

i am going to upgrade to 8.3 and see if it fixed it but ssd performance is horrible and a full cr backup takes 15 hrs for a 400GB backup. strange thing if i run windows backup to a iscsi drive it backs up in 2 hrs. i cant find and reason why dive performance is so low but it can be faster for backups ect. if i image to a new drive it seems to get better for a bit but not long.its a hp z440 workstation .cpu load is low and all vms on macjine have low usage and cant find a reason for slow extream performance. thin provisioned ext.

      any ideas ?
i have been using xcp for long time and cant figure this out.
      running server 2022
      windows update managed vm drivers.
This is after a backup finishes drive performance just tanks
first image is while running a 6gig compressing zip file inside vm

both are on same drives. about 400gig on 0% drive and 250 gig om other
the cant seem to find bottleneck

    • after a major crash and reload sr introduce

I'm sure this is not the first time this question has been asked but i cant find in searches.

after a re introduce and the disk is available without metadata how to tell what the latest one is. i have a 14tb drive and had 100's is snaps and copy's ect. i have been just mounting them and looking at logs and naming them but there has to be a better way.

Thanks for any help . always learning (sometimes the hard way)

@olivierlambert that's what I did and performance is fine. Soon as I choose dr (disaster recovery) it takes 2 5 times longer.

@olivierlambert it first run so it's a full copy and 300 gigs took 1.5 hrs. With dr first run take 3-4. I do backups inside to iscsi very fast also. Just DR seems to take twice as long and I'm fully updated. It is from sources but fully updated. I even downloaded the official and tried trial and dr is still slow.

@olivierlambert so interesting enough , i changed to CR and not DR and backup is fast.

    • Disater recovery backups crazy slow

      xen version.png

300gig from ssd to 2TB sata drive takes 6 hrs. i can backup inside vm to a iscsi in 1 hr.

i have two vm servers both with the same issues. cant seem to see why there is such a bottle neck on the backup?

when i choose delta backup transfer rate is 10Mbps cant seem to see why so slow.

i attched a SR drive as a second HDD and used a cloning software and it cloned over 100MBs so i know its not drives.
