Hi,
Just another 'me too' - my backups are failing with the same message as well.
I just rebuilt xen-orchestra, running on a Debian 10 VM.

@ci4ic4 Replying to myself - disregard this. I found out why. I used to run Xen-Orchestra as root on my previous Debian 9 instance; I had to switch to Debian 10 (nodejs incompatibility at the time, I don't know if it has been resolved) and I didn't bother setting it up to run as root, left it to start as my normal user.
I had to add my normal user account to the 'root' group and 'chmod 775 /run' directory - after that the NFS 'remote' mounts OK and the backup succeeds.

I'm also on Debian 10. but I'm running as root. Still have the problem, happened again this morning. running the backup again succeeds...

@joearnon The original error is unfortunately not present in this log, please take a look at
xo-serverlogs (written on itsstderr). -
@julien-f can you ell me how to do that? as i said im a windows guy not linux, so youll have to walk me through the process...

journalctl -u xo-server -f -n 50
gives nothing about the backup. -
@joearnon Did that command show any output? If so, then try increasing the numeric value (500, 1000, etc) until you get the desired output.
You could also issue the command and then kick off the backup, which should show you the resulting output in realtime.

The log shows only the start and stop of the xo-server. 4 days ago. i tried increasing to 1000 and got the same result. nothing about backup. -
@joearnon Not what I was expecting. Maybe it's different on Debian. <shrug> Did you use a script to install XO? If so, which one?

I ran into the same problem. I had the xo-server rebuilt using a force rebuild. Without effect.
Information about Xen Orchestra:
- xo-server 5.79.5
- xo-web 5.82.0
- nodejs v14.17.1
Xen Orchestra says:
Error: all taget have failed, step: writer.beforeBackup()

A commit fixed that very recently. Please rebuild on latest
mastercommit, as you should do anytime you have a problem
