Unable to import VMDK file
-
Hey

What about XOA in
stable, same issue? -
@olivierlambert Yes, the issue is the same in stable channel.
-
Apparently I missed this earlier when I checked Settings > Logs --
HTTP handler of vm.import undefined { "message": "Request aborted", "name": "Error", "stack": "Error: Request aborted at IncomingMessage.onReqAborted (/opt/xen-orchestra/node_modules/multiparty/index.js:197:17) at IncomingMessage.emit (node:events:513:28) at IncomingMessage.patchedEmit [as emit] (/opt/xen-orchestra/@xen-orchestra/log/configure.js:135:17) at IncomingMessage._destroy (node:_http_incoming:224:10) at _destroy (node:internal/streams/destroy:109:10) at IncomingMessage.destroy (node:internal/streams/destroy:71:5) at abortIncoming (node:_http_server:747:9) at socketOnClose (node:_http_server:741:3) at Socket.emit (node:events:525:35) at Socket.patchedEmit [as emit] (/opt/xen-orchestra/@xen-orchestra/log/configure.js:135:17) at TCP.<anonymous> (node:net:313:12) at TCP.callbackTrampoline (node:internal/async_hooks:130:17)" } -
I wonder what broke "recently" on this

@Danp if you have the patience, could you test "older" XO version on Github? So see if at some point it worked?
-
@olivierlambert I found this prior issue on GH. I reattempted the import from 7387ac, but it still fails.
Starting to wonder if the issue is environmental.

-
Maybe it's specific to this file you have. @Darkbeldin when you can, can you download the file and try on your side?
We need to check on other VMDKs to see if it's a global issue, limited to this VMDK, or finally due to something else in the environment.

on it
-
This seems more like an HTTP timeout because it always occurs around the 5 minute mark.
-
@Danp I can confirm tried on latest and stable can't import this VMDK import cutting down in the middle, will have to llok at the xoa logs to see if I can spot any error.
-
We should try other VMDKs I think.
-
@olivierlambert I know it's not a part of this ticket but I'm not able to export ova (vmdk) files and get them to import into anything else. I've tried vmware workstation pro, vmware fusion, and vituralbox.
I get an OVA or if I download the vmdk from the disk menu but even if I added it to an existing vm they either can't read it or it's corrupt and can't be repaired.
These VMs boot and work fine on XCP-ng (I haven't tried to reimport an exported one).
-
This issue is no longer present when testing with latest sources.
