VM migration time
-
Hi. I created a Linux VM for testing. It has a 10 GB disk. The MTU of the communication network between the hosts in the pool and the Dell storage is 9000.
When I try to migrate this VM between storage volumes, using XO, the time is more than 6 minutes. Is this time normal for the size of the VM?
Could I check some settings to try to improve this time?
I saw the links below, but I still have questions:

Hi,
Giving the speed will be more helpful What's the average speed you are seeing in the host view/stat tab and network graph?
-
@olivierlambert The interface used for direct communication with storage is eth5.
-
Is the VM on shared storage?
Storage migration is quite slow, but if the VM is on shared storage the migration is usually pretty quick, we've seen about 7Gbit/s on a 10G network with MTU 9000. -
@nikade Yes, the VM is using shared storage. My storage network is 10G with the MTU of 9000. I don't use multipathing for interfaces. I'm thinking there's something wrong with the settings.

The network throughput is really weird. What NIC are you using? Also, double check you have MTU 9000 everywhere, this is usually a can of worm when not correctly configured.

@olivierlambert See the settings:

Switch Dell: MTU 9216

I will try to list more information.
