Sorry for the confusion, I was posting the output from my Windows 11 computer...

On Server 2022 for example, it will report "Windows Server 2022 Datacenter 64-bit" instead. So the OS name should be correct wrt. client/server editions, i.e. it will not report as Windows 11 on Server 2025.

@dinhngtu From my point of view this would be fine So the systems can be distinguished even when the buildnumber is the same.

Got a weird bug on these.

Used xenclean to remove Citrix 9.4.1 drivers, installed the 9.0.9137-2 . Now if I live migrate a VDI, the agent gives up on that VM. Drivers are all working, just the agent needs reinstalling. Only got one pool to test it on, but its the same on all four hosts.

Three VMS I migrated disks on;

From Management Agent Detected before VDI migrated to agent missing after migration completion;

All three are Server 2019 VMs.

Any similar known issues?

@dinhngtu Hopefully before the next updates to xcpng. Rolling pool update moves all VM's....

Does this bug clear itself after a VM reboot? Or has the tools to be reinstalled? Is it only cosmetic or does it affect the running VM?

Havne't tried this myself and as we have moved all VM's to these new tools I'd like to be aware of what I can expect.

Whats the difference between this one and the the one created by "managementagentx64-9.4.2.msi" downloaded from "http://downloadns.citrix.com.edgesuite.net/17528/managementagent-9.4.2-x64.msi" or https://www.xenserver.com/downloads#lightbox-20160?

As of right now, using "managementagentx64-9.4.2.msi" I get "Management agent 9.4.2-178 detected" with the latest Citrix/xenserver.com drivers.

Is it better to start using this signed build of the XCP-ng Windows PV drivers?

@archw xcp-ng tools are developed by Vates with many improvements over the citrix tools that align with xcp-ng.

Thanks for the advice! I just did one.....lots of rebooting required.

After you run xclean, it then reboots. When it comes back, there is no mouse so, unless you can do everything from keystrokes, you have to reboot. When it comes back, you can then install the new drivers. It then reboots and now you can reset your original ip address (if it was a static IP address).

In regards to statement few posts above that XCP-ng tools are developed by Vates, does that mean that Vates builds them from scratch or modifies Citrix/XenServer ones?

I am thinking about switching to "XCP-ng windows guest tools 9.0.9137'', production is currently on "XenServer VM Tools for Windows 9.4.2".

@dom0 They are built from scratch using these components:

Upstream Xen Project PV driver sources, which includes contributions from Citrix, Vates, Invisible Things Lab among others, and where we are one of the maintainers;
The Rust guest agent, which is developed by us;
The installer, packaging and tooling is completely our own.

Version 9.1.100 Release Signed of the Windows PV tools has been released.

It will be integrated into the XCP-ng built-in tools ISO after a test period of 2 weeks.

This release brings multiple bug fixes to all Windows drivers and guest tools components.

To download XenClean, click here. The installer downloads also includes a copy of XenClean and XenBootFix. Remember to carefully read XenClean docs before use.

For uninstalling:

@dom0 Yes, the Vates tools are our recommended guest tools for XCP-ng going forward.

Would it be possible to either have direct links to the exe's without them being zipped? Or list the version number of the xen-guest-agent.exe?

I'm installing these through Ansible (see code below). And it would be way cleaner if either of those two wishes could be true.
