I have to give it to your team at Vates, you guys really bring out amazing features!

In your recent blog I happened to read about XOSAN and although not a new service this is an amazing feature!

My understanding is that with XOSAN I can pool my local storages together and data is replicated to the other pool members storage, leaving a copy of that data on all of the hosts.

Can you exclude hosts or AKA do I select which local storages to pool together?

mauzilla According to the documentation, I do not see any way to exclude a host. XOSAN is expected to be installed on every host in the pool.
However, it's not clear what would happen if a host did not have any local storage or alternatively, if the size of the XOSAN storage exceeds the size of the local hosts storage on any given host.
My guess is that the assumption is that ll nodes in the pool will be very similar and hence, the process is simplified because of the uniformity of storage on all the hosts.
For more on the storage creation process, see: https://xen-orchestra.com/docs/xosan.html#creation

tjkreidl Im beginning to wonder if I have XOSAN and XOSTOR confused? Are these different solutions? Also, (we have a premium subscription), is this included in the XO license cost or are there other costs involved?

mauzilla XOSAN and XOSTOR are 2 different solutions, where XOSTOR is the latest and greatest of them. To see prices you can look here: https://vates.tech/pricing-and-support/#features-matrix

nikade thank you, we're on premium, I see it indicates optional on the price matrix but I cannot see the optional costs anywhere?

You can indeed have diskless hosts, but this means all access to the virtual disk from this diskless host will have to go from the network. It's OK, but it won't be as fast as a true local drive.

If you need info on XOSTOR, please contact us at https://vates.tech/contact

XOA Premium does not include XOSTOR, it will be an addon license.
Maybe olivierlambert can fill in the details, but I think XOSTOR is not included in any VMS package.

It is an option indeed, one of the reason is we share the revenue with LINBIT.
