      I have a question about the new backup sequence feature. Currently, I have scheduled jobs separately, but if I want to convert three jobs into a sequence, does that mean I need to remove the schedule from each job? What I'm particularly wondering is how this affects retention, since it's currently set based on the schedule. In the individual jobs, do you now specify retention within the schedule? Could someone clarify how this works exactly?

          @rtjdamen

          the backup chaining does not change the way we handle settings ( retention or health check), to ease the conversion to backup sequences.

          The main change is that the schedules should be disabled if you only want to have them run in sequences

            @florent ok thanks, but how does this work for a job with multiple retentions? if i have a job with 3 schedules and retentions set for this job, how does the sequence handle this, in other words as the retention is set on the schedule level and i disable 1 of 3 schedules, how does the sequence know what retention it should keep?

              @florent As part of the documentation updates for the backup sequencing, can we get a sequence diagram of the actual backup process? Showing what gets sent to where and in what order. Both with and without the XO Proxy.

              This would help clarify a lot of the issues, I think. Right now it's not clear what connections are made by the host vs XO and to what SR.

              Thanks.

                I would like to ask a followup question to confirm.

                so IF using sequences, we should disable the backup tasks on the overview tab?
