Proxy and losted comm with XOA

@vkeven Not exactly, if the connection is interrupted between XOA and XO Proxy, the backups will still be done normally but the logs are lost and the state of the backup will not be visible in XO. This is a known issue that will work on at some point.
As you said, the XO Proxy is running the backup job by itself.

@julien-f , each time XO Proxy losted connection with XOA we received a failed backup but you are saying than backup will be done ? Humm we need to do some test but how we will know than backup is successfull ?
-
@vkeven What's the error you received? Interrupted?
Yes, normally the proxy continue the backup on its own.
Humm we need to do some test but how we will know than backup is successfull ?
There are no logs but you should be able to see the created VM backups in Backup/Restore
-
@julien-f , vm not found , no xapi associated to
How we could be assure than everything is correctly backup ? Just received the XOA news with experimental VEEAM support , we will try these , we need something robust with advanced feature ( object storage , immutable , backup validation , dedup ) , with all encryption/ransom we need solid and functionnal DR plan with fast recovery and we are also checking HyperV

Some news ?

@vkeven the architecture didn't change on the proxy side
but since your last message, you may have seen backup health check ( 5.70) , backup immutability ( 5.91 ) encryption at rest (5.74)
object storage is supported since 2021 -
@florent So if proxy lost contact with XOA , all backup will still failed and all backup status are losted ? I would be nice if proxy become full autonomous , so this way you could upgrade XOA , restart it and all backup job would run themselve and report back to main console
-
@vkeven as @julien-f said, the backup will continue. It will probably be marked as interrupted or successfull with missing VM/ VM info , depending on the phase where the proxy lost connection to the XOA
I think having an autonomous proxy Vs the "dumb" proxy we run today will add a lot of complexity.
Note that you can deploy multiple XOA running backup and a master XOA that can mount all the remote , and then restore any VM . It is not advised to have multiple XOA run the backup on the same VM.

@florent Is there somewhere we could discuss therse not on public forum....Thanks !

@vkeven you can request a meeting with our sales teams, but technical discussion are better here if possible
