How does one create a new virtual machine?
I click on "New VM" and it just gives me a list of templates and doesn't allow me to just create a virtual machine with my own settings and details...

What is going on here and how can I create a virtual machine please?

@DRWhite85 templates are just pre sets for your VM, you can modify everything and build your VM as you wish ?

You must select a template, you can configure everything after (as @pilow said).

It's meant to have some low level specifics you don't want to learn (BIOS/UEFI mode, some virt modes etc.)

But I want to configure everything, not base it on a template of an insecure system. I don't have to learn the low level specifics because I already know them. I have been working with virtualisation systems since they were first developed.

@DRWhite85 as said earlier, you can.

select whatever template. and then modify ALL the params you want. templates are just ... templates... presets...

@DRWhite85 then choose "other" as template to create a "generic" vm, then you dont have to worry about the template stuff.

I suggest watching some youtube videos about xcp-ng. I guest Lawrence Systems - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wMmSm_ZeZ4 He has other videos that go into more depth
