Alternative to XCP-NG Plugin for Veeam Backup & Replication Public BETA
-
Hi!
Currently, my production infrastructure is running on VMware ESXi (v8.0.3), and I would like to set up a cluster of two XCP-ng servers for my BCP. I want to back up all my VMs from VMware to XCP-ng once a day.
I saw that there is a Veeam plugin to back up to XCP-ng servers, but it is still in beta, and I would rather wait for the first stable release.
I have already looked at the integrated “Import from VMware” feature, but it seems to be a manual backup process. I did not find any option to schedule it automatically.
Did I miss something regarding the import functionality? Or does anyone know of an alternative to the Veeam plugin currently in beta?
Thank you.

Hi,
First stable of VEEAM should be released relatively soon (but please ask them, I cannot announce anything, I'm not a VEEAM employee
).The V2V solution is for import from Vmware, it's not meant for backup. Regarding the possibility to schedule it, I will leave @julienxovates answer

Hi,
We are currently working on a tool to better industrialize VM import from VMware into the VMS stack, based on N8N (https://n8n.io). Stay tuned !!! -
@julienXOvates sounds promising !!
@gashorus in last veeam webinar they announced for veeam v13.1 (currently 13.0.1) to be out of beta on XCP-NG plugin...
date : june 2026.
