      Hi!

      I can see a strange behavior;
      The first delta-backup-run after a storage migration if a VM changes to “delta” although the snapshot of the jobs last run is still available.

      Is this “by design”?
      Is there anything, I can do to do “forever-incremental”, when I want to move the VDI to another SR?

      Thank you and best wishes

        Pretty sure that has come up previously with the outcome being that the UUID changes during the migration, so the next backup with me full instead of delta.

        Here's the prior discussion with a link to issue on GH -- https://xcp-ng.org/forum/topic/3822/xoa-always-does-a-full-backup-if-vdi-was-moved-between-storage

          @Danp @olivierlambert
          As the github threat got closed by oliverlambert: Do you see any option to add that feature in the future?

            Just came here to ask for a solution as well.
            I just moved all machines in my pool with 2 hosts and local storage from host 1 to host 2 and all VM's are creating a full backup instead of a delta backup. Maybe I am doing the migration wrong? (XO --> migrate VM --> select other host) It is in the same pool after all...

              There's no way we can do incremental since the VDI is changed/rebuilt during a migration (it's a new VDI created). As soon as you move a VDI, a new full is done automatically because the VHD is entirely new. Doing incremental on top of it would corrupt it.
